“Plastic is not our problem.” The moment a fisherman in the Aegean Sea tossed a plastic bottle back into the water after hauling it up in his nets, Lefteris—a sixth-generation member of a fishing family—made a decision that would change his life.

As Greece struggled through an economic crisis and the Mediterranean became increasingly burdened by plastic pollution, Lefteris realized that both challenges could be addressed together. He founded Greece’s first fishing school and began working alongside local fishermen to remove plastic waste from the sea.

This inspiring film shows that meaningful change does not begin with grand declarations or sweeping policies. It starts with the simple determination of one person who cares deeply about the ocean.
