1985년 일본, 병든 어머니를 간병하는 재일조선인 2세 ‘코지’는 아버지를 앗아간 바다에서 계속해서 일을 하는 어머니를 이해하지 못한다.
차별과 핍박이 가득한 삶에서 어머니의 바다일을 계속해서 만류하지만, 그녀는 바다에 향했다.
‘코지’는 점차 바다는 고향과 연결된 유일한 공간이자, 상실을 이겨내는 방식이었음을, 거칠고 두려운 곳이 아닌 따듯하고 아늑한 곳이었음을 깨닫고 어머니를 이해하게 된다.

Koji, a second-generation Korean-Japanese man, cares for his ailing mother.
He cannot understand why she continues to dive into the same sea that took his father's life.
In a life full of discrimination and hardship, Koji pleads with his mother to stop her perilous work, but she never stops returning to the sea.
Over time, Koji begins to see the sea not as a place of danger and sorrow, but as a space of memory, healing, and connection to the homeland.
He comes to understand that the sea, to her, is not cold and harsh, but cozy. A place of peace.

김형준, 홍재의 감독은 디자인을 전공하였고 《COZI》를 통해 제주국제AI필름페스티벌에서 수상했다.
작품 《Threshold》, 《아빠와 크레파스》 등이 일본과 인도 등 국제AI영화제에서 공식선정 되었으며 110분 분량의 100% AI 장편영화의 발표를 앞두고 있다.
