"예쁜 바다 사진만 찍는 시대는 끝났다." 쓰레기 더미 위로 푸른 바다가 투영된다.
아름답다고 생각한 순간 그것이 쓰레기임을 깨닫고, 쓰레기라고 외면하는 순간 그것이 바다임을 알게 된다.
그 경계에서 진짜 바다의 얼굴이 드러난다. 미야코 섬 바닷속에서의 경험을 통해 그의 행동이 다른 이들의 동기가 될 수 있다는 것을 깨달은 작가는 바다 속에서 건진 플라스틱과 영상으로 공간에 또 다른 바다를 연출해 사람들의 마음에 파도를 일으킨다.
그는 그의 작품이 세상의 바다를 바꾸는 나비의 날갯짓이 되길 희망한다.

“The era of taking only beautiful ocean photographs is over.”
A blue ocean is projected onto a pile of discarded waste. The moment we think it is beautiful, we realize it is garbage; the moment we dismiss it as garbage, we recognize it as the sea. It is within this uneasy boundary that the ocean’s true face emerges.
Through his experiences beneath the waters of Miyako Island, the artist came to understand that his own actions could inspire others to act. Using plastic recovered from the ocean alongside immersive video installations, he creates another sea within exhibition spaces—one that sends ripples through the hearts and minds of its viewers.
He hopes that his work will become a butterfly’s wingbeat: a small gesture capable of creating change far beyond itself, and perhaps even helping to transform the future of our oceans.

도쿄를 기반으로 활동하는 감독이자 촬영감독으로, 예술, 극영화, 다큐멘터리의 경계를 넘나드는 작업을 이어오고 있다. 그에게 영화 제작은 단순한 기록 행위가 아니라 ‘재탄생의 과정’ 이다. 그의 렌즈 아래에서 오래된 기계는 새로운 생명력을 얻고, 평범한 사람들은 스스로도 몰랐던 자신감을 드러낸다. 그는 이미지가 현실을 바라보는 우리의 방식을 바꾸고 미래를 상상하게 만드는 힘을 지녔다고 믿는다.
