드라마는 제주의 해남 고돌진(해골)의 인터뷰로 시작된다. 283년 전 관노였던 그는 동굴에서 신비한 ‘불멸의 황금 감귤’을 먹은 후, 바다에서 폭풍우를 만나 해골의 모습으로 영생하게 된다.
수백 년간 제주의 역사와 함께 살아온 그의 가슴속엔 인간 시절 첫사랑 꽃분과의 겨울 데이트가 가장 사무치는 기억으로 남아있다.

다시 육체를 얻으면 무엇을 하고 싶냐는 면접관의 질문에, 돌진은 잠시 꽃분을 떠올리지만 이내 제주의 바다를 지키는 해남으로 계속 살고 싶다고 답한다.
그렇게 그는 끝내 전하지 못한 마음을 품은 채 인터뷰를 마친다.

The drama begins with an interview with Go Dol-jin (nicknamed 'Haegol,' meaning skeleton), a Haenam (male diver) from Jeju. Two hundred and eighty-three years ago, while working as a government slave, he ate a mysterious 'Immortal Golden Mandarin' in a cave.
Later, after encountering a violent storm at sea, he became an immortal living skeleton. Having lived through centuries of Jeju's history, his most deeply yearning memory remains a winter date with Kkot-bun, his first love from his days as a human.

When asked what he would do if he could have a human body again, Dol-jin briefly thinks of Kkot-bun but replies that he wishes to keep living as a Haenam protecting the seas of Jeju.
With those unspoken feelings tucked in his heart, his interview comes to an end.
