On the rugged coast of Brittany, France, after a fierce storm has passed, a newly hatched catshark finds itself trapped in a tidal pool. Barely 12 centimeters long and only a few hours old, this tiny predator has just one challenge: survive for the next 13 hours until the tide returns.
As the hours pass, rising temperatures, dwindling oxygen levels, territorial lobsters, and hungry gulls circling overhead turn the tidal pool into a relentless arena of survival. Though small in size, this miniature world is teeming with life: a resident green crab defending its territory, a homeless hermit crab searching for shelter, a velvet crab carrying her precious eggs, and a master-of-disguise spider crab, each struggling to endure another day.
Revealed by the retreating tide, this hidden world is both breathtaking and unforgiving. Director’s Bio
학업을 마친 마누엘은 수중 자연 다큐멘터리 제작에 전념하기로 결심했다. 독학으로 영화 제작을 익힌 그는 아버지(촬영)와 어머니(각본)의 도움을 받아 첫 작품을 촬영했다. MIPCOM에서 배급사를 만나 해양 생물을 주제로 한 12부작 시리즈(각 26분 분량) 제작 계약을 체결했고, 이 시리즈는 30개국 이상에 판매되었다.
알렉시스는 지난 20년간 다큐멘터리 영화 제작에 종사해 왔다. 영화 편집자로 시작하여 음향 엔지니어링과 드론 조종 기술을 익히고 다양한 영화 제작팀에 합류하면서 여행에 대한 열정을 마음껏 펼칠 기회를 얻었다.
이러한 현장 경험은 그의 편집 기술을 더욱 발전시켰고, 자연스럽게 영화 감독의 길로 이끌었다.
At the end of his university studies, Manuel Lefèvre decided to dedicate himself to making underwater wildlife documentaries. A self-taught filmmaker, he created his first film with the help of his father (for cinematography) and his mother (for writing). At MIPCOM, he successfully found a distributor and signed a deal for a 12-episode series (26 minutes each) about marine wildlife. The series was sold in over 30 countries. Building on this first success, he quickly went on to direct two 52-minute films, including The Wonderful World of Crustaceans.
The last 20 years, Alexis worked in documentary film. He started as film editor and learned sound engineering and drone piloting in order to join varied film crews, giving him more opportunities to satisfy his passion for traveling. Those field experiences added to his editing skills, simply brought him to film direction.
