<내 기억 속의 범고래> 는 연출가 김재청과 작곡가 이지은이 해양을 주제로 이어오고 있는 연작 시리즈의 한 작품이다. 유엔 해양과학 10년(UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development) 공식 예술가 프로그램을 통해 한국과 미국 예술가들의 협업으로 제작되었다. 영화는 군사적 긴장이 높아진 바다가 해양 생태계, 특히 긴 이동 경로와 생애 주기를 지닌 고래류에게 어떤 위협이 되는지를 음악과 퍼포먼스를 통해 감각적으로 풀어낸다.
미국 안무가 Candice Salyers는 실제 핵무기 실험이 진행되었던 멕시코만에서 고래를 위한 춤을 추고, 영화는 그 몸짓을 통해 멸종의 위기를 헤엄치는 존재들을 조용히 응시한다.
그러다 문득 질문하게 된다. 그들은 정말 범고래와 만나본 적이 있었던 걸까?

In My Memory, the Orca is part of an ongoing ocean-themed series created by director Kim Jae-cheong and composer Lee Ji-eun. Produced through the official artist program of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the work brings together artists from Korea and the United States in a cross-cultural collaboration.
Through music and performance, the film explores how seas shaped by military tension can threaten marine ecosystems, particularly whales whose lives depend on vast migration routes and long life cycles. In the Gulf of Mexico, where nuclear weapons tests once took place, American choreographer Candice Salyers performs a dance dedicated to whales. Through her movements, the film quietly contemplates beings that continue to swim through the shadow of extinction.
And then a question lingers. Did they ever truly encounter an orca? Or is the orca that appears in memory not a creature of sight, but one of longing, imagination, and hope?
